About Small Creek
Small Creek's founder, Ron Swanson, has over 30 years of mechanical engineering experience designing equipment used in the dairy, beverage, food and pharmaceutical industries. These are reasons that the Scandihövian are what they are.
About Our Woods
The woods that are used are hard maple and cherry. These woods are some of the finest (and tightest) grained woods that are native to North America. Hard maple is strong, tightly grained, resists staining and can be sanded to a lustrous finish. Cherry, while not quite as strong as maple, otherwise has most of the same characteristics and might darken with age.
About Our Products
Scandihövian are hand planed as much as possible to minimize sanding marks. They are then hand rubbed to create a very smooth surface. They are not treated with any oil or other substances to make them shine... just a good ounce or two of old-fashioned elbow grease. These polished and smooth surfaces make them easy to wash after use.
The unique shape of the Scandihovians allow them to be places on countertops to minimized their contact with both the counter, as well as the food-exposed area of the utensil. We recommend that you season each utensil with mineral oil or your favorite cooking oil.
They can be placed in a drawer after use, or live with their relatives in their quaint cottage, which doubles as both a conversation piece and work of handcrafted art.
